The Sixteenth session of Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission of UNCTAD convenes in Geneva from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
 
Mongolia noted the recovery of global foreign direct investment in 2025, while highlighting concerns over its increasing concentration in a limited number of economies and strategic sectors. For landlocked developing countries, Mongolia stressed that the quality and development impact of investment, including economic diversification, employment, skills, technology transfer and linkages with domestic enterprises, are as important as its overall volume.
 
Mongolia expressed interest in strengthened UNCTAD technical assistance to support investment diversification, strengthen linkages between FDI and domestic SMEs, promote investment in digital and technology-enabled sectors, and implement the recommendations of Mongolia’s eTrade Readiness Assessment.
