PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES OF MONGOLIA AND SWITZERLAND EXCHANGE VIEWS ON DISARMAMENT ISSUES

On 14 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Gerelmaa Davaasuren, Permanent Representative of Mongolia, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Julien Thöni, Permanent Representative of the Swiss Confederation to the Conference on Disarmament.

During the meeting, the two Permanent Representatives exchanged views on current disarmament issues, including efforts to strengthen the prohibition and regulation of certain types of conventional weapons. They expressed their shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation in this area.

In his capacity as President-designate of the Seventh Review Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), to be held in Geneva from 16 to 20 November 2026, Permanent Representative Julien Thöni briefed on the preparations for the conference and outlined its key priorities.

Ambassador Gerelmaa Davaasuren congratulated her counterpart on assuming this important responsibility, commended his active efforts in preparing for the conference, and expressed her full support for its successful organization.
