MONGOLIA REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR BHUTAN'S WTO ACCESSION PROCESS
The 5th meeting of the WTO Working Party on the Accession of the Kingdom of Bhutan was held in Geneva on 9 July 2026.
Ambassador and Permanent Representative Davaasuren Gerelmaa attended the meeting and welcomed the decision to resume Bhutan's WTO accession negotiations. She commended the significant progress made by the Government of Bhutan in updating its accession documentation, aligning its domestic legislation with WTO rules, and advancing both bilateral and multilateral negotiations.
She also encouraged WTO Members to continue engaging with Bhutan in a constructive and flexible manner, considering its level of development and capacity constraints, with a view to facilitating a balanced and timely conclusion of the accession negotiations.
Mongolia reaffirmed its continued support for Bhutan's accession to the WTO and expressed its confidence that Bhutan will become a full Member of the Organization in the near future.
