“WOMEN LEADING IN MULTILATERALISM AND DIPLOMACY” EXHIBITION OPENS IN GENEVA
On the occasion of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, a photo exhibition entitled “Women Leading Countries, Societies and Communities” was inaugurated on 30 June at the United Nations Office at Geneva, at the initiative of UNOG Director‑General Tatiana Valovaya.
The exhibition aims to highlight the essential role of women in building inclusive and prosperous societies and to celebrate women leaders across sectors including public service, civil society, academia, media, business, culture, humanitarian work, and community initiatives. Featuring contributions from more than 60 countries, the exhibition showcases 112 women whose leadership and achievements have been recognized through photographs displayed at the UN.
Representing Mongolia, the exhibition features Ms. Buyanjargal Boloroo, a disability rights advocate, an awardee of the European Union’s “Defender of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”, who has significantly contributed to raising public awareness on disability issues and ensuring that the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities are enshrined in legislations, strategic policies and decision‑making processes.
It also highlights Ms. Namsrai Bayarsaikhan, Executive Director of the NGO “Step Without Borders”, who has been working for 20 years to support the rights of rural herders, girls and women, and to advance environmental justice with her extensive expertise in establishing legal frameworks for social impact assessment, developing and localizing community-based environmental monitoring methodologies, and strengthening public interest advocacy.
