PARTICIPATED IN A BRIEFING SESSION

H.E. Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa, Ambassador and Permanent Representative, participated in the virtual briefing held on 23 June 2026, jointly organized with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Liaison Offices in Geneva, New York and Brussels, under the theme “Agrifood system and the Rio Conventions: Updates ahead of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.”

Ambassador Davaasuren Gerelmaa delivered remarks and presented Mongolia’s position as the Presidency of the seventeenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17), to be held in Ulaanbaatar from 17 to 28 August 2026.

She emphasized Mongolia’s commitment to organizing the Conference as an implementation-oriented COP that advances practical solutions, strengthens partnerships and mobilizes investment.

She further underscored that land restoration is not solely an environmental priority, but a fundamental condition for ensuring food security, sustainable livelihoods, rural development, and the well-being of communities.
