BILATERAL MEETINGS HELD DURING THE 114TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE
Permanent Representative and Ambassador D. Gerelmaa held several bilateral meetings on June 8–9 during the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference.
At an event commemorating the partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ambassador D. Gerelmaa met with H.E. Mr. Kim Young-hoon, Minister of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, she highlighted the importance of the youth employment promotion project being implemented in Mongolia by the ILO with funding from the Republic of Korea and discussed opportunities to build on its achievements through a second phase.
During her visit to the International Social Security Association (ISSA), she also met with Mr. Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, Secretary General of the ISSA. The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation between Mongolia’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection and the ISSA, including through support for social insurance reforms, the introduction of international best practices, and capacity-building efforts, and agreed to pursue follow-up actions in these areas.
The 114th Session addressed a number of important issues, including employment and artificial intelligence, the development of international labour standards to ensure decent work in the platform economy, the promotion of gender equality in the workplace, and the strengthening of inclusive tripartite social dialogue. In particular, the adoption of the Convention on Decent Work in the Platform Economy established new international labour standards aimed at protecting workers engaged through digital platforms and addressing issues related to employment status, algorithmic management, and working conditions. The Conference also adopted conclusions on measures to tackle persistent workplace inequalities and accelerate progress toward gender equality. In addition, it endorsed guidance on modernizing social dialogue mechanisms to better respond to emerging global challenges, including the digital transformation of the world of work.
Having been held in Geneva from 1 to 12 June, the 114th Session concluded its work today.
