POTENTIALS FOR LOCAL COOPERATION BETWEEN MONGOLIA AND SWITZERLAND

A delegation led by Mr. В. Tsogt‑Orshikh, Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Khural of Khentii Province of Mongolia, visited Valais Canton of the Swiss Confederation on 26–28 May 2026.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Christophe Darbellay, President of Valais Canton, Mr. Nicolas Sierro, Secretary‑General of the Cantonal Parliament, as well as representatives of the City of Sion and the Council of Ardon Municipality.

The delegation had fruitful discussion on introduction of the distinctive governance system of Switzerland, official functions and structures of cantons, cities, and communes as well as emergency preparedness planning, prevention measures of crimes, and other relevant practices. The two sides also exchanged views on opportunities to expand local‑level cooperation, particularly through joint projects and programs in education and tourism fields.
