PRESIDENT OF THE SWISS CONFEDERATION ADDRESSES FOR NEW YEAR'S RECEPTION FOR THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS
President of the Swiss Confederation H.E. Mr. Guy Parmelan delivered a speech at the New Year’s reception for the diplomatic corps accredited to Switzerland on 14 January 2026, outlining Switzerland’s foreign policy priorities and challenges.
In his remarks, President Parmelan stated that he will continue to expand trade and economic cooperation with key trade partners, advance business and scientific collaboration, foster peace in the region and internationally, and strengthening international humanitarian law based in the Switzerland’s longstanding good office and neutrality in his tenure as the President for 2026.
H.E. Mr. Guy Parmelan, Federal Councilor and Head of the Federal Department of Economy, education and research, assumed the Presidency of Swiss Confederation for 2026 in January 2026.
