THE PRIME MINISTER OF MONGOLIA VISITED THE “MONGOLIA – A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME” EXHIBITION AT THE RIETBERG MUSEUM
H.E. Mr. Zandanshatar Gombojav, Prime Minister of Mongolia, while attending the 56th Annual meeting of the World Economuc Forum held in Davos, Switzerland from January 19 to 23, visited the “Mongolia – A Journey Through Time” exhibition at the Rietberg Museum in Zurich on January 22, 2026.
Prime Minister G. Zandanshatar was welcomed and honored by Mr. Markus Leitner, Director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ms. Annette Bhagwati, Director of the Rietberg Museum, and Mr.Johannes Beltz, Deputy Director of the Rietberg Museum, and esteemed representatives of the Swiss friends of Mongolia.
The jointly exhibition, which is being organized within the framework of cultural cooperation between the Governments of Mongolia and the Swiss Confederation, is an excellent contribution to showcasing two thousand years of historical heritage, introducing Mongolia's history, society, and culture to the international stage, reshaping the stereotypes, and conveying the historical achievements of Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire to future generations.
According to the museum, the exhibition depicts the Mongolians as an ancient cultural region in the Eurasian cultural, technical, and commodity exchange from the 1st to the 14th centuries from the Hunnu to the Mongol Empire, features 235 exhibits from 162 countries, and attracts the attention of the international audience by connecting contemporary art with historical heritage.
Founded in 1952, the Rietberg Museum is the largest art museum in Switzerland and is famous for its rich collection of traditional and contemporary art and cultural heritage. The museum houses about 23,000 exhibits and 37,000 ethnographic photographs, and is visited by about 80,000 visitors annually.
