THE 116th SESSION OF THE IOM COUNCIL CONVENES IN GENEVA
The 116th Session of the International Organization of Migration (IOM) Council convenes on 08-10 December 2025 in Geneva. The delegation of Mongolia, led by H.E. Ms. Davaasuren Gerelmaa, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Mongolia, is participating in this Session of the IOM Council, the highest body of the organization.
More than 500 representatives from 175 IOM Member states, 8 observer states, international organizations and other stakeholders are attending the Session to evaluate the outcomes of the 115th Session of the Council which convened last year, IOM budget for 2026 and other agenda followed by the General debate.
On the first day of the Council Session, Permanent Representative Ms. Davaasuren Gerelmaa attended as a panellist in the side-event "Call to Action for the Resilience Campaign” and shared views on the further collaboration of the Members states to ensure its timely response to humanitarian aids as well as safe, orderly and humane migration policy.
Permanent Representative D.Gerelmaa delivered her statement at the General debate on the second day, expressing appreciation for the IOM’s fulfillment of its core mandates and leadership and the continuous technical assistances provided to the countries all over the world. She appraised recent achievements and potential cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and IOM and reiterated Mongolia’s strong willingness to contribute the sole mandate and commitments of the IOM.
Director General Amy Pope extended gratitude for the continuous support by the Government of Mongolia to IOM as well as Mongolia’s modest contribution to the IOM Resilience Fund, in her comment at the General debate. Director General updated the ongoing process of launching the IOM Country Office in Ulaanbaatar.
Mongolia became the Member of the International Organization for Migration in 2008.
