MONGOLIAN YOUNG PROFESSIONALS TO TAKE PART IN LHC OF THE EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH (CERN)
Ambassador D. Gerelmaa warmly welcomed the Mongolian delegation led by Academician J. Davaasambuu, Director of the Institute of Physics and Technology at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, during their visit to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
At the meeting, views on expanding scientific cooperation between Mongolia and CERN — the world’s leading center for fundamental particle physics, quantum research, and innovation.
CERN’s extensive research infrastructure and open database, accessible to more than 12,000 scientists, researchers, and engineers from 113 countries, was highlighted as a unique platform for advancing global scientific collaboration.
Ambassador D. Gerelmaa expressed her deep appreciation to the Mongolian delegation and extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Batsukh Baasansuren, senior scientist at the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and head of Mongolia’s LHCb group, on his new appointment as a researcher at CERN. She also warmly congratulated Ms. Erdenebulgan, a young physician participating in CERN’s internship program, recognizing their achievements as important milestones in Mongolia’s growing engagement with international scientific communities.
The delegation was composed of distinguished members, including Dr. Enkhbat Tsedenbaljir, Head of the Theoretical and High-Energy Physics Laboratory at the Institute of Physics and Technology, Mongolian Academy of Sciences; Mr. Dorjpalam Amgalan, founder of “Gej yu ve?”, a leading science content platform; and Mr. Erkhembayar Myagmarjav, Chief Executive Officer of Digital ID Mongolia.
Since establishing cooperation with CERN, founded in 1954, Mongolia has been cooperating with the organization in participating in projects, bilateral meetings and trainings. Mongolia is currently fully preparing to become an Associate Member of the organization in 2025.
