HELD A MEETING WITH DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL OF INTERNATIONATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION (IOM)
Geneva, 29 October 2025. Permanent Representative and Ambassador Davaasuren Gerelmaa welcomed Ms. SungAh Lee, Deputy Director General for Management and Reform of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the Permanent Mission of Mongolia.
Both sides emphasized the significance of the close partnership between Mongolia and IOM. She commended the Organization’s pivotal role in addressing global migration challenges and reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to deepening this collaboration.
Deputy Director General Lee provided an overview on the current situation of humanitarian assistance, migration policy developments, and the management reforms to overcome the financial constraints within the IOM system and the implementation of the IOM Global strategy (2024-2028).
Permanent Representative D. Gerelmaa reiterated the continuous support of the Government of Mongolia for IOM’s leadership, particularly in its capacity as the Coordinator of the United Nations Network on Migration.
Permanent Representative D.Gerelmaa presented the Note Verbale informing the decision of the Government of Mongolia to contribute the IOM Resilence Fund during the meeting.
Following up the meeting, Ms.Amy Pope, Director General of IOM, extended sincere gratitude to the Government of Mongolia for the contribution of solidarity, on her official social platform.
