The General Debate of the First Committee on Disarmament and International Security of the 80th United Nations General Assembly is currently convening in New York on October 8-17, 2025.

On 10 October 2025, Ambassador Gerelmaa Davaasuren, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Headquarters and other international organizations in Geneva, delivered a statement highlighting Mongolia’s position on disarmament and international security.

In her address, Ambassador Gerelmaa emphasized that the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons remains the cornerstone of the global nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament regime. She reaffirmed Mongolia’s unwavering commitment to disarmament and to strengthening international peace and security.

The Ambassador also highlighted Mongolia’s proactive role in regional security initiatives, citing the successful organization of the 10th International Conference on Northeast Asian security “Ulaanbaatar Dialogue,” held in June 2025. She further announced that Mongolia will assume the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament, underscoring the country’s commitment to advancing international peace and security.
