The prestigious 78th Locarno International Film Festival is taking place in Locarno, Switzerland, from August 6 to 16, 2025.

"A South Facing Window"—a co-production between Mongolia’s Guru Media, director P. Lhagvadulam, and France’s Aurora Films—has been officially selected for the festival’s “Short Feature Film” competition. The film will make its world premiere at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

This marks a historic moment, as "A South Facing Window" is the first Mongolian film ever selected for the competition section of the Locarno Film Festival. Screenings will be held from August 10 to 12, and we warmly invite everyone to attend, support the talented cast and crew, and celebrate this milestone for Mongolian cinema.

In the previous years, young Mongolian artists were selected to participate in the festival’s “Open Doors Hub” and “Open Doors Lab” programs—initiatives aimed at nurturing emerging voices in global filmmaking from 2019 to 2021.
