Permanent Representative and Ambassador D. Gerelmaa held a virtual meeting on July 22 with Madam Rabab Fatima, the High Representative for the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS).

High Representative R. Fatima expressed gratitude and best wishes to Mongolia for once again assuming the role of coordinator for the group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), headquartered in Geneva. Mongolia previously served as coordinator for this group during 2021–2022.

At the virtual meeting, the parties agreed to protect the interests of LLDCs within multilateral trade mechanisms, address LLDC-related issues at the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on LLDCs in Awaza, Turkmenistan this August, include LLDC concerns in discussions at the 16th Session of the UNCTAD in Geneva this October and highlight LLDC issues at the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Cameroon in February 2026.

Both sides expressed a strong willingness to work closely for contribution to the development of these countries with special needs.
