Geneva, 4 June 2025. – The signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marking the launch of the pilot phase of the “Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund Project” in Mongolia took place at the World Trade Organization.

This initiative, a collaborative endeavor of the WTO and ITC, aims in enhancing awareness of digital platforms among women-led MSMEs, equipping them with the tools and resources to compete in the digital marketplace.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WTO Director-General, Mrs. Pamela Coke Hamilton, ITC Executive Director and Mr. L. Tur-Od, President of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry MNCCI.

The WEIDE Fund Project will offer financial and technical assistance through two distinct grant programs to the beneficiaries:   

- Discovery Grant- designed to help start-ups explore new e-commerce opportunities. 

- Booster Grant, tailored to businesses ready to enhance their digital presence and expand into international markets.

Since the registration opening in April, the Fund project has gained tremendous interest in Mongolia, with over 300 women entrepreneurs actively applying for funding through MNCCI. 

Permanent Representative and Ambassador D. Gerelmaa attended the signing ceremony and highlighted the significance of digital trade in empowering women-led enterprises and fostering economic growth in her congratulatory remarks.
