THE 113TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE STARTS IN GENEVA

The 113th session of the International Labour Conference started in Geneva on June 2, 2025. A tri-partite delegation of Mongolia, led by H.E. Ambassador and Permanent Representative Gerelmaa Davaasuren and comprising the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, Mongolian Employers' Association, the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mongolian Trade Union, is participating in the said session.

This year’s Conference, which brings together more than 6,000 tripartite representatives from 187 member countries, will address important world of work matters such as possible new international standards on the protection of workers against biological hazards in the working environment (second discussion), decent work in the platform economy (first discussion) and innovative approaches to promoting transitions from the informal to the formal economy as well as the ILO’s tripartite input to the Second World Summit for Social Development to be held in November this year in Doha, the approval of amendments to the Code of Maritime Labour Convention, and the implementation of the ILO's fundamental conventions. The Conference will also consider the ILO's draft programme of work and budget for 2026-2027.

In his opening address, ILO Director General G. Houngbo stressed the urgency of the need to respond to new and existing challenges such as informality, unemployment, youth underemployment, rapid technological advancement, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and climate impacts on the world of work, expressing hope that the current session will provide an opportunity to take stock of these developments and provide solutions.

The delegation of the Government of Mongolia will present, at the plenary sitting of the Conference, the reforms, achievements, and challenges of the employment, and express the Government’s position on the reports of the ILO Director-General and the Chairperson of the Governing Body.

The 113th session will continue until 13 June 2025.
