115th SESSION OF THE IOM COUNCIL AND HIGH-LEVEL SEGMENT CONVENE IN GENEVA

The 115th Session of the International Organization of Migration (IOM) Council convenes on 26-28 November in Geneva. Mongolian delegation led by Mr. Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia participated in this Session of the IOM Council, the highest authority of the organization.

More than 600 representatives from 175 IOM Member states, 8 observer states, international organizations and other stakeholders are attending the Session to evaluate the outcomes of the 114th Session of the Council which convened last year, report of the 7th Special session, IOM budget for 2025 and other agenda followed by the General debate.

On the first day of the Council Session, IOM High-level segment, themed "Regular migration pathways: a global call for action ", was held successfully where Heads of the Member states, observer states and representatives of the international organizations shared views on the further collaboration on addressing and combating the causes of illegal migration and displacement and determining the solutions.

State Secretary Mr. Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, delivered his statement at the High-level segment, expressing appreciation for the IOM’s fulfillment of its core mandates and leadership and the continuous technical assistances provided to the countries all over the world.

He informed the efforts and measures taken by the Government of Mongolia on the internal and external migration, undertakings on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Global Compact for Migration, and national long-term development policy of "Vision-2050" and reiterated Mongolia’s strong willingness to contribute the sole mandate and commitments of the IOM.

At the margin of the Council Session and High-level segment, State Secretary L.Munkhtushig held a bilateral meeting with Ms.Daniels Ugochi, Deputy Director General for Operation of the IOM and appraised recent achievements and potential cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and IOM.

Mongolia became the Member of the International Organization for Migration in 2008.
