The 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent is being held in Geneva from October 28 to 31, with the theme "Navigate Uncertainty – Strengthen Humanity."

The Mongolian Government delegation, alongside the representatives from the Mongolian Red Cross Society, is participating in the conference and delivered a speech emphasizing Mongolia's steadfast commitment to International Humanitarian Law.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative Ms. Davaasuren Gerelmaa highlighted the country's ongoing efforts to promote humanitarian principles across the nation and stressed the critical importance of humanitarian aid in the context of the climate crisis in her statement to the Plenary session of the Conference.

The delegation held bilateral meetings with Mr. Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), and Mr. Jacques de Maio, Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and exchanged views on strengthening further cooperation in humanitarian efforts.

In the days ahead, delegations from the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, together with nations that are party to the Geneva Conventions, will adopt resolutions concerning significant humanitarian issues. The resolution will focus on preparing for and adapting to climate change and disaster law, as well as promoting local leadership and strengthening humanitarian capacities and resilience.

Established in 1867, the International Conference is the Movement’s supreme, deliberative body and the world’s oldest forum to decide on relevant humanitarian issues based on shared humanitarian principles. Held every four years, the International Conference is the forum in which all 196 State signatories to the Geneva Conventions, the 192 National Societies, the ICRC, and the IFRC come together to discuss, debate, and decide on pressing humanitarian issues of common interest and concern.
