MONGOLIA SUCCESSFULLY PARTICIPATED AS THE "GUEST OF HONOR" IN THE 64TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION "FOIRE DU VALAIS" IN MARTIGNY, SWITZERLAND
With the support of Mongolia’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, alongside the Small and Medium Enterprises Agency and the Mongolian Tourism Organization, Mongolia was promoted in the "Foire du Valais" exhibition in Martigny, Valais canton, Switzerland.
The 10-day exhibition welcomed more than 300,000 visitors and over 400 exponents between 27 September and 06 October 2024.
Mongolia attended the exhibition for the first time and featured Mongolian unique tradition and culture, and well-known products made of wool, cashmere and leather and introduced its tourism policy and promotion throughout the exhibition.
At the margin of the exhibition, a multipart event "Go Mongolia: Mongolian Cultural Day", was held successfully on October 02.
On that day, information session "Go Mongolia", dedicated for the Mongolian tourism sector, welcomed more than 150 guests. H.E. Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Switzerland and H.E. Laurent Wehrli, Member of the National Council (Federal Assembly) made the opening remarks at the event and followed by remarks of Mr. Vincent Claivaz, President of the "Foire du Valais" and Mr. Christophe Darbellay, State Councillor in charge of the Department of Economy and Education in the Valais government.
Ms. B.Tsetsegmaa, Head of the Strategy and foreign relations department of the Mongolian Tourism Organization briefly demonstrated Mongolian tourism industry and potential tourism cooperation between Mongolia and Switzerland and Mr. Pascal Gertsch, a Swiss citizen, who travelled to Mongolia 20 times, shared his heartfelt memories and experiences by his inspiring speech “Mongolia – in my heart".
A full performance of folk art by the "Mongolian step" led by Ms. Gerlee Tsegmid, Cultural envoy of Mongolia, and a 90-minute concert by the ethno-rock band "Uuhai" attracted over 2000 viewers in the main concert hall of the exhibition.
In the traditional Mongolian ger (yourt), Mongolian artists and citizens in Switzerland showcased tradional performances including national wrestling, knucklebone shooting, mongolian dance and musics featuring horsehead fiddle, harp and throat singing.
H.E. Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Swiss Confederation, got interviewed to the Swiss radio station "Le Chablais" and "Le Nouvelliste" magazine about the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Switzerland and the presence of Mongolia to the 64th annual exhibition "Foire du Valais".
