A delegation from Mongolia’s Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, accompanied by representatives from the Micheel Expo Center and businessmen of wool, cashmere, leather products, and cosmetics, visited Swiss companies and organizations at the margina of their participation to the “Foire du Valais”.
During their stay in Switzerland from 26 September to 01 October, the delegates gained valuable insights and experience.
The delegates visited the factory and laboratories of the 75-year-experienced Swiss sewing and technology company "Steiger”.
The company has expanded its operations, allocating 25% of its focus to fashion clothing and 70% to advanced medical technology textiles, such as pain relief garments and wired electrode products for individuals with disabilities and severe health conditions.
Additionally, “Steiger” produces components for cars, aircraft, and space applications. As part of its strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change, the company has demonstrated promising results in research, experimentation, and production, notably by replacing traditional clothing with high-tech, durable and lightweight textile solutions and especially in automachines, airplanes and spaceman garments.
The delegation visited HES-SO Valais-Wallis, a university of applied sciences and arts located in the heart of Sion, Valais Canton. University officials, including the rector, administrators, the head of the Engineering Department and the leader of the Innovation Project Team, warmly welcomed the Mongolian representatives. During the visit, they engaged in discussions on cutting-edge technological advancements and explored potential opportunities for future collaboration.
Switzerland currently operates 705 hydroelectric stations, which supply 62% of the country’s domestic energy needs, alongside 220 large dams. During their visit, Mongolian representatives toured the Hongrin-Léman hydropower plant and held a meeting. The hydropower plant leaders provided an overview of its electricity sources, smart consumption practices, innovative energy-saving methods and ongoing numerical research. They also demonstrated the process of electricity generation at a depth of 800 meters.
These meetings and events were made possible through the support of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, the leadership of Valais Canton and the organizing committee of the "Foire du Valais".
