MONGOLIA ADDRESSED THE CHALLENGES FACED BY LLDCs

Geneva, 26 June 2024. Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Mongolia Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa attended as a panellist in the high-level session “Forging pathways to prosperity in LLDCs: mainstreaming trade in development programmes and the role of Aid for Trade” which convened in the margins of the 9th Global Review of Aid for Trade at the WTO.
 
The session welcomed Ms. Rabab Fatima, UN Under Secretary General and High Representative of LDS, LLDS and SIDs, Mr. Ratnakar Adhikari, Executive Director of the Enhance Integrated Framework of WTO, Ms. Maria Dimitriadou, Special Representative World Bank Group to the UN and the WTO, and Mr. Raul Cano Ricciardi, Permanent Representative of Paraguay to WTO.
 
Ambassador Ms. Davaasuren Gerelmaa emphasized the importance of collaboration between Landlocked developing countries in the regional blocs to overcome the unique obstacles faced by LLDCs in the global trade, with joint actions of simplifying trade procedures, enhancing infrastructure enhancing digital platforms and implementing single-window systems.
 
Ambassador highlighted the significance of the International Think Tank for LLDCs based in Mongolia, which has been instrumental in enhancing the analytical capacity of LLCDs and providing home-grown research to address the specific needs of the countries.
