STATEMENT DELIVERED AT THE PLENARY SITTING OF THE 112TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE

The 112th session of the International Labour Conference is continueing in Geneva. On June 10, Permanent Representative D.Gerelmaa delivered a statement in the plenary discussions of the Session to introduce the policies, legal reforms, and activities implemented by the Government of Mongolia in the field of promoting employment, creating productive and decent workplaces, promoting entrepreneurship, and ensuring labour safety.
Permanent Representative emphasized that the Government of Mongolia, in cooperation with social partners, drafted and had approved major labour and social protection laws such as the Labour Law and the Social Insurance Package Law by the Parliament, thereby carrying out significant legal reforms, and that, to achieve the goals set forth by the laws, the Government, employer, and employee representative organizations signed the State Agreement for 2023-2025, which includes new scope and responsibilities.
She further touched upon the labour safety challenges faced in sectors with high workplace risk, such as mining, energy, roads, and construction, and informed that a revision of the Law on Occupational Safety and Health was being developed to improve the labour safety management and create a healthy and safe working environment in Mongolia.
Permanent Representative D.Gerelmaa informed the plenary that Mongolia has been working actively to join the ILO Conventions No.81 and 129 on Labour Inspection. While noting that the theme and objectives of Mongolia’s "New Revival Policy" adopted by the Parliament in 2021 are fully aligned with the topics and issues being discussed at the 112th session of the ILC, she asserted that the Government of Mongolia is determined to implement these reforms to accelerate post-pandemic economic growth and increase decent jobs.
She thanked the International Labour Organization for its continued cooperation, support and technical assistance in all these endeavors.
