MONGOLIAN LUNAR NEW YEAR “TSAGAAN SAR” WAS CELEBRATED

Geneva, 12 February 2024. The Embassy of Mongolia in Geneva hosted a vibrant celebration marking the Mongolian Lunar New Year, known as “Tsagaan sar” in the company of esteemed colleagues and friends from from various Swiss governmental agencies, NGOs, and international organizations based in Geneva.

A diverse group of over 20 guests gathered to partake in the activities, which included an immersive experience of celebrating Tsagaan sar adhering closely to the Mongolian traditions. Following the presentation, which delved into the cultural significance of Tsagaan sar, guests were treated to a captivating performance by artist D.Mandakhjargal. He showcased the unique sounds of the Morin khuur (horse head fiddle), mesmerizing throat singing, and enchanting folk music, providing a memorable experience for all in attendance. Additionally, young artist Uranchimeg added another layer of cultural richness to the event with her demonstration of Mongolian calligraphy.

Ambassador Gerelmaa Davaasuren extend sincere appreciation to the guests and friends for their unwavering support and friendship, which continually strengthens the bonds between Mongolia and Switzerland. Furthermore, Ambassador Davaasuren congratulated them with the upcoming 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and conveyed warm wishes for success, health, and happiness in the upcoming year of the Blue Dragon.
