PRESIDENT OF THE SWISS CONFEDERATION ADDRESSES FOR NEW YEAR'S RECEPTION FOR THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS
On January 10th, 2024, President of the Swiss Confederation H.E. Ms. Viola Amherd delivered a speech at the New Year’s reception for the diplomatic corps, outlining Switzerland’s foreign policy priorities and challenges.
In her speech, President Amherd stated that the foreign policy of Switzerland is stable, and that Switzerland seeks dialogue based on Swiss values and defend them on the international stage. She also highlighted that “this means that neutral Switzerland is a party to many issues!”.
She informed that for upcoming year for Switzerland, relations with the European Union, the international security situation, and the state of multilateralism are the most important international issues.
President Viola Amherd assumed the Presidency of Swiss Confederation on January 1st, 2024.
