INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP “PROBINGS INTO VERNACULAR RELIGION” WAS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BERN

With joint collaboration between the Embassy of Mongolia to Switzerland and the Institute for the Science of Religion of the University of Bern, an international workshop was held under the theme of “Probing into Vernacular Religion” at the University of Bern on November 24-25, 2023.

At the international workshop, researchers and scholars examined  the vernacular religion of nomads, their unique culture and tradition, the history of Mongolian Buddhism, its past and present, followed by open discussion, on their findings and exploration.

The workshop was attended by the academicians and scholars from the University of Bern (Switzerland), Missouri State University (USA), Indiana State University (USA), the Russian Academy of Sciences, Bonn University (Germany) Heidelberg University (Germany), the University of Marburg (Germany), the University of Tartu (Estonia), NTNU Trondheim (Norway) Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary).

The workshop was opened by H.E Ms. Gerelmaa Davaasuren, Ambassador of Mongolia to Switzerland, Mr. BEISBART Claus, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Bern and by Prof. Dr. Karenina Kollmar-Paulentz  of the Institute of Religious Sciences of the University of Bern.
