INTERNATIONAL GENEVA MARKED PINK OCTOBER TO INCREASE ATTENTION AND SUPPORT FOR BREAST CANCER EARLY DETECTION, TREATMENT AND PALLIATIVE CARE

On 17 October 2023, Аmbassadors, Permanent Representatives, UN representatives, and civil society organizations gathered for a solidarity group photo to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and the principal cause of death from cancer among women globally. In Mongolia, 46.4% of breast cancer patients are diagnosed in the late stages, which greatly increases fatality rates. Breast cancer is the fifth most common cancer among Mongolian women.

Pink October is marked worldwide in order to increase attention and support for breast cancer early detection, treatment, and palliative care.
