MONGOLIA URGES TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE CHALLENGES FACED BY LLDCs
Geneva, 19 April 2023. Ambassador of Mongolia D.Gerelmaa in her remarks during the Formal Meeting of the WTO’s Trade Negotiations Committee’s reaffirmed Mongolia’s dedication to advocating for reform within the organization and collaborating with other members to achieve the objectives set forth in MC12 and to engaging constructively in upcoming discussions to achieve tangible results at MC13.
Furthermore, Mongolia, being a landlocked developing country (LLDC), urged all WTO members to take into account the specific challenges faced by LLDCs and include their concerns and needs in any reform agenda. She emphasized the significance of maintaining the existing structure of Special and Differential Treatment as an essential component of WTO agreements, recognizing the importance of providing policy space for developing and least developed countries, including LLDCs.
