EXPANDING COOPERATION WITH THE UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT

Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Mongolia D.Gerelmaa held a meeting with the Director of UNCTAD's Division on Technology and Logistics, Ms. Shamika Sirimanne on April 5, 2023. At the meeting, both sides exchanged views on projects aimed at enhancing e-commerce, custom automation and strengthening activities of the Science and Technology Park of Mongolia.

Underscoring the importance of revitalizing information technology and e-commerce to pursue the long-term development policy of Mongolia “Vision-2050”, Ambassador of Mongolia D. Gerelmaa proposed to jointly organise donor roundtable event which could support the implementation of priority actions in the eTrade readiness assessment of Mongolia on June 8, 2023. She also noted that the launch of the project for the digitalization of the Mongolian Customs General Administration is expected to mark at the event on 8 June in collaboration with the UNCTAD.

During the meeting, Ms. Sirimanne reaffirmed the UNCTAD's willingness to support all initiatives of Mongolia in the field of digital transformation along with trade facilitation and expressed her intention to ensure high level participation in the event which will take place on June in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
