HELD A MEETING WITH MS. GEREL DONDOVDORJ, A MEMBER OF THE UN CRPD

H.E. Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia, met with Ms. Gerel Dondovdorj, a member of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), in Geneva.
 
During the meeting, the parties discussed potentials to strengthen collaboration between Mongolia, the United Nations, and other international organizations to enhance the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. Ms. Gerel Dondovdorj has been working as one of the 18 members of the UN CRPD Committee since 2021 followed by her successful re-election in 2024, ensuring her continued contribution to the Committee’s mandate.  
 
Globally, approximately 1.3 billion people - equivalent to 16 percent of the world's population, or one in six individuals - live with some form of disability. Among them, around 200 million experience significant functional limitations, including over 100 million children. More than 80 percent of persons with disabilities live in developing countries.
